Refrimate hosts open day

Refrimate hosts open day

By Benjamin Brits

Refrimate was abuzz with activity as the team hosted an open day to engage with clients on new product offerings.

Held at their branch in Ormonde, Johannesburg, in March this year, Faizel Patel, managing director of Refrimate, keenly introduced their newly added products, which includes welders, metering equipment, various evaporator and coil sets, compressors, and their new refrigerant reclamation unit, amongst others.

The Ormonde branch was opened around two years ago, and this was the first open day to launch their new products and ranges. The branch turnover has grown in popularity with the clientele as well.

“Although our main Randfontein branch is well established, much bigger and holds a lot more stock, we have noted that customers really like this branch in terms of its location, service and pricing. We also re-stock at least once a week to ensure we have the volumes the clients may need,” Patel says.

Refrimate has opted to position themselves in a particular range compared to other suppliers, and according to Patel their products are significantly more affordable for the end user – citing that other companies are already expensive, and getting more expensive, in a market that requires much more reasonable costs.

"The technicians and The technicians and end users we supply have also become a lot more savvy"

“Today’s environment means that people need more options and one way to reduce prices is to offer clients products they can put together themselves by buying the separate components. Naturally, we also offer complete products too, or finishing services – but clients have the option to save on any additional expenses. Companies have to stop all the red tape to the market. Too often, as we see these days, there is the growing demand for local products and services, but then there are also massive mountains put in the way. The technicians and end users we supply have also become a lot more savvy and can tell when they are being robbed. Cheaper products also do not always mean there is a quality issue, especially when the same products can be five times more expensive elsewhere,” Patel continues.

The refrigerant recovery and reclamation unit was a particular highlight of the open day, along with the introduction of Refrimate’s own manufacture and supply of oxygen, nitrogen and LPG welding machines. The condensers, as part of the product updates, can handle any refrigerant within a specific ratio or properties, and are suitable for commercial refrigeration applications.

The latest products add to the over 3 000 items that Refrimate already stocks, and Patel notes the essential need to have an excellent stock management system that he manages himself, amongst his other tasks as the business leader. Their system also manages all returns and can provide thorough and detailed reporting on product faults or failures.

The team further, drawing on their various expertise, also offered clients advice on all their queries from products to failure resolution, and suggestions on how to solve various in-field challenges they were experiencing.
